Survey Payoff

Survey Payoff
Why do online survey companies make you jump through hoops to get any kind of payoff?

Online survey compamies promise you free gift cards etc. to take their surveys, then once you start answering questions, you're taken from one 'survey' to the next, often having to make a choice to join or buy something, in spite of them saying 'no purchase/no obligation necessary'. I'm tired of jumping through hoops, then having to go back to the beginning and start over with nothing to show for my trouble. Are there ANY legit online surveys out there?

I haven't found a legitimate online survey company yet - - the websites I've tried will either let you accumulate points (or "dollars") or they will promise you gift cards, but they are a business and aren't going to give away good prizes for just a few minutes that you spend giving your opinion. It takes a long time to accumulate enough points for a prize that makes it worth your while.

HOWEVER, you might look into some legitimate market research companies near you, and ask their receptionists if they keep a list of people who like to take surveys over the phone. Some of those will pay money, and some of them will pre-qualify you by phone and then invite you to come in (in person) and participate in a focus group.

I've worked for a couple of market research companies at the beginning of my career, and they would pay cash to focus group attendees.
